Flowers on ice

“Peace of Mind” – a phrase stuck in my mind from yesterday’s dialogue with a colleague. And my honest phrase in our discussion, “Writing is the only thing I know, it’s like breathing. It comes naturally; I enter a state of being, and I do it. Knowing how to do without thinking. It flows out through my fingers.” And I continued trying to explain the difference in doing anything else. ” Other tasks, in various levels of effort, I have to think, repeat, and involve the head and focus in an entirely different way.”

Peace of mind: a strong, wanted state of mind and being. I guess, it doesn’t give me peace of mind unless I get it out of my system by the best way I know how to – by writing about it and getting into the best state of flow that I’ve experienced so far in life.

“Wax on, wax off.”

A phrase that occasionally pops up in the thoughts “wax on, wax off”, and refers to a scene in “Karate Kid”. A movie with plenty of life wisdom, if you actually listen to what’s communicated in the movie. One takeaway for me was the importance of discipline, consistency, and patience in following the path you’ve chosen. As with every movie, book, and situation, we bring with us what’s meant for us. If we choose to, and from time to time, life doesn’t let us make that choice, it chooses for us. What that scene also reminds me of is that in the small, simple, and often repetitive tasks, I enter a state of peace of mind. Tasks that, in today’s society, are aimed at removal from day-to-day life to improve efficiency. Small breaks that forced us to stop, breath and slow down. To get back into a healthy pace of life.

Person, pace, and peace.

We move at different paces depending on who we are and how old we are, and we adapt to what the situation requires from us. Finding and moving at your own pace is also finding your space, peace, and what you, as a person, thrive in. And as mentioned, it’s also age-dependent, as are your physical preconditions, which also change continuously. Like flowers, we grow and thrive in different phases, circumstances, and places.

Peace of mind

It requires consistency, patience, and focus on where you’re heading, your suitable way of getting there, and, as in “Karate Kid”, life can take you there in mysterious ways. And one needs to be open to what life serves you and willing to rethink, think new, and trust life on it’s twist and turns. That no matter what, it will work out for the best. And remember where you’re heading.

Now it’s time for the daily walk, yet another way for me to clear my head and get peace of mind and body. Even though I’m already at peace of mind after writing, my body needs to move into a state of bodily peace and relaxation. It’s human nature to move the body to stay healthy and relaxed, and daily walks are one way I enjoy doing that.

As always, I’m looking forward to hearing from you and your thoughts on this topic, peace of mind, and your solutions and tools to reach this state of calmness.

Love and hugs,

Cathrin
