Books enter my life for various reasons, and the timing has to be just right for them to land well. Most books I borrow from the library since I usually only read them once. When I reread a book, I often wonder how I could have liked it in the first place. Some books I return unread because they don’t capture my interest. Sometimes I borrow one of the books again later on and then enjoy reading it—a strange feeling.
“What is left behind.”
Sometimes, only one or two sentences remain, becoming the essence of the book. The plot is not essential at other times; then, the enjoyment lies in how the author uses the language. However, most of the time, it is the feeling the book gives me, rather than the content, that makes it stick.
“The Unforgettable.”
Some books and authors that won’t let go, leave me, are the ones I share here. I prefer to read books in the original language. I read English books just as fluently as Swedish. Occasionally, I read a French book with an easy-to-read text. Genres vary, but most explore fictional realities, philosophical concepts, and creative inspiration. An ultimate book blends these elements.
