I just do stuff - summarizes both my work and private life. A life where these two parts are one and the same. They have always been integrated in some way because I am driven by my interests and commitment and I take on new things that I want to do and learn more about. Never really think about whether I will be able to do it but develop the knowledge in the areas instead. Everything always resolves in some way.
In the middle of 2019, my company got a new, and to some extent involuntarily fun, focus on developing the concept around my Crumelurs. In connection with this, I ended my part-time employment as marketing- and communications manager for a small, innovative technology company. My company has been part of Krinova Science Park in Kristianstad since 2020. Then came Covid. Lull. Restrictions. Time for thought and reflection. Vaccinations 2021,and it's starting to roll on. In a different way, at a different pace, and with new insights.Interesting times ahead.
In parallel with the employment, the assignments in my company in recent years had been focused on, in Sweden and Europe, looking at prospective, new innovative tech companies, mainly in creative industries, health technology, and sustainability. The company has been around since 1999 and the activity has varied in focus and scope.
I ended up in the innovative technology sector with the launch of my book "WIFL - Your guide to the digital working life (2013), which was also the first book in Sweden about the digital working life. A sector that I, both in Sweden and internationally, has actively worked in various ways since then. The interest in how to lead and organize work has always been an underlying focus and interest of mine, and in 2016 I wrote a book on how to have the right mindset to successfully and healthily, lead oneself in the new working life.
The writing has also been used for articles, e.g in the online tech magazine Rapidus. The wirting was also used when blogging for e.g. "Stilettos on the GlassCeiling", one of the US 100 most influential blogs at the time.
The computer sector in tech has gone from being at balance with women and men, to being male-dominated. In various ways, I have worked for women to take a larger place again in IT. I am WITIs, Women In Tech International, Swedish representative. FooCafé, a meeting place in Malmö with events and training in the tech sector, has been an important part of this work.
In other respects, during my working life, I have developed a major project for, among others, Region Scania to, from a leadership- and organizational perspective, increase the health at Scanian workplaces. I worked for the Insititute for Working Life in both Malmö and Stockholm. In Malmö as project manager and in Stockholm, the role was as a researching assistant. During my employment, I was also the Swedish representative in ENWHP, European Network for Workplace Health Promotion. On a consulting basis, I analyzed an extensive number of companies to select and present good Swedish examples of health-promoting workplaces at two major international conferences organized by ENWHP. My working life has always been included with some writing tasks such as e.g. reports.
In terms of education, I have an academic degree in medical science from Karolinska Institute, master studies public health science at Karolinska and Linköping, and studies from a college in the US. Educations and courses have found a part in life and the most recent was in the spring of 2021, an online course at MIT, "Blockchain and Money". Blockchain and how it will change the worlds different systems fascinate and interest me. Some of the areas that use it are linked to money, transportation and art.
Language and culture are intertwined and affect us all, both analogously and digitally. Education is increasingly taking place online and through Udemy I have learned the languages HTML and CSS. In the fall of 2021, I'll deepen my knowledge of another language and culture by learning programming at an online course at LTU (Luleå University of Technology) - "Programming and C #".
I started social media in 2010 to use professionally, which is still the main reason I'm on LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. A completely new culture and new way of dealing that have emerged with a kind of global, international set of cyber norms.
Educating and lecturing to inspire to lead oneself, and to better lead others, in a world that is integrated analog and digital, is exciting. In dialogue form, mutual learning takes place between everyone in the room. A mixed audience, but with the same interest and drive, I have met at places like the tech fair Geek Girls meetup, Iceland IT fair, Riga tech University, and in panel discussions at e.g. the Book Fair in Frankfurt, and at ArtLab in Milan.
The cultural similarities are probably more than our differences in being human. Traveling in different ways has always been a part of my life, and I have been wokring in the travel world, both at an American airline and at various travel agencies. I have lived abroad in France and on three different occasions in California.
A little more of what is usually classified as private nature is that I enjoy being physically active, and am a part of my everyday life. It has to be fun and enjoyable, and perforemd in an "enjoying-life-pace". It takes place mainly in the form of yoga, walking and cycling. I have participated in some races, such as that I ran the ladies' Lidingö race and biked Tjejvättern. In the summer of 2021, I completed my first beginner triathlon. All the races has been done in a feeling of "enjoying life".
As mentioned, I like to take on a few different things and since I like to fly, I took the opportunity to, with an instructor, lever a Cessna along the coast of California when I lived there. At the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, I lived in San Diego and was selected as an Olympic hostess. I worked non-profit with Stockholm Box Open, an international boxing tournament, when my friend needed help. Porcelain painting and helping out with making ceramics in mold for an artist, is what I did for a period when he needed a helping hand. Written, drawn and photographed has always been a part of my life, and is what my full focus is on now.
I just do stuff - Here I put an end to a selection of what my long and content-intensive intense life has so far been filled with, and I look with excitement, interest and confidence towards what is next to be experienced. :-)
