The first Crumelurs appeared in a hotel room in Stockholm in February 2019 when I sat, as usual, and drew while talking on the phone, i.e., I “phone doodling.” I had bought some new pencils that I was testing, and suddenly some Crumelurs appeared. I was amazed. Since then, Crumelurs seem to appear whenever I sit down to draw.
“An adventure every time.”
I never know what’s going to happen, who will show up, or in what surroundings. They draw themselves, and my part is to hold the pencils. It’s like embarking on an exciting journey of discovery and adventure every time. Pencils, paper, and I become one when I set off on that journey.
“Popping up everywhere.”
I draw Crumelurs wherever I am, and the travel set consists of an A4 pad and some black fine-liners. It doesn’t matter if it’s a train journey, a beach location, or a diner; they pop up everywhere. At home, they’re also drawn in different places and colored on the drawing board, which is surrounded by over 200 alcohol-based markers in various colors. The drawings are mainly in A4 and A3 format and sometimes in A2.
” I always get so happy when I see your Crumelurs.”
It is a recurring quote from those who meet my Crumelurs. It reflects the feeling I get when they appear on paper. No matter what mood I’m in when I sit down to draw, after a few minutes, I start to smile, and a feeling of pleasant amusement takes over my body and mind. Nowadays, I feel like a Crumelur most of the time, a Crumelurs entrepreneur who brings Crumelurs to the world and makes people smile and feel good. 🙂
